Rich,

Welcome! Funny you should say this - there has been some talk as of late about the value of cross linking between blogs. I think that your comment may have been true a few years ago but now with the advent of Twitter and FriendFeed (and others) this may not be as valuable as it was in the past.

Here is a good post from someone that is in touch with new Media:

http://www.louisgray.com/live/2008/07/importance-of-blog-linking-seems-to-be.html

Any reader that comes to my site is welcome to yours - I will even add a link on my blogroll for you.

Besides blog trolling, I think comment padding is another method of “exploitation.” If I'm trying to grow the readership to my blog or Web site, posting "profound" comments that link back to my site (usually through a hotlink in the byline of the comment) allows me to ride the coattails of someone else’s labor. In most if not all instances that link doesn’t do a bit of good from an SEO perspective (b/c of no follow), but if I can interest a few of your readers to visit my site b/c of a post I made, I get an opportunity for free exposure thanks to your hard work. Now the disclaimer: I’m not commenting on your blog in hopes of gaining visitors to my site, Ron. LOL!

Graduated 1995? Hell, anything older than 5 minutes ago is out of date. Therefore, it is equally questionable how long our old educational prowess will last?

Overall, CommonSpot has a better interface for managing internal and / or frequently used, registered external links, especially because changing links result in fewer 404's. I don't see much of an argument. I like WordPress a lot, and there's nothing terribly wrong with the GUI -- it's just that CS has enhanced the user experience by properly utilizing the nature of database driven content.

Not at all - I was appealing the cynical audience. Everyone has the right to love it or hate it - our freedoms are the best things we have as a nation.

Now, some people might think the problems we have justify an act of defying the pledge - and perhaps hypocritically, they can follow this train of though; but overall I am in firm belief that we should respect every freedom we have and the people who made and make it so !!

Ah, yes - but people don't know they're in jeopardy... and without broader acceptance and subsequent migration, you're not going to see the disappearance of services that continue to generate significant revenue.

Sure, most people would do better with skype than some verizon landline- and over time this trend will continue, but without laws or focused marketing, it's going to take a significant amount of time.

The deeper into technology I get, the more I simultaneously underestimate and overestimate the digital consciousness of the people around me.

Ah - the perfect answer. Clearly, you have been snagged before (or you have the best 20/20 foresight vision known to mankind). So when you go to the store to by milk do you buy an extra half gallon in case the one you intend to use falls out of your hands and breaks on your patio on the way to your front door? Or do you tie an extra spare tire on the top of your car in case you get a flat, use your real spare tire and get a flat on one of your other tires on the way to the garage? I could go on and on my friend....

You may not see it - but I do - in the sea of people (mostly teenagers) I saw a "telephone" line connected to everyone's cell phone, smartphone, pda. It lead me right to my answer and beyond. I see us as a truly connected society in 15 years - tops.

Super-hyper-mega connected - like it or not. As sure as Rock and Roll was hated by the adults in the 1950's - you too will grow to loathe the ultra connected crowds of the 2020's and beyond. Sorry man.
